“Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.”
– John Maxwell

Attracting, developing, and retaining great talent is an essential component of all transformation efforts. At the Bay Ed Fund, we support districts in three key areas:
- Helping districts hire better: Bay Ed Fund helps districts improve HR strategies and systems to hire outstanding teachers and principals. As a result, both SSFUSD and Ravenswood are filling their open positions for each school year earlier than ever before.
- Recruiting great district leaders: We also support partner districts to fill their most critical roles. This year, we supported SSFUSD to create and hire a new position: Chief of Strategy and Communications. Georgina Blackett began her career as a Teach For America corps member in San Francisco, helped launch Teach For Philippines, received an MBA from Wharton, and was a consultant at Ernst & Young.
- Developing future leaders: We are partnering with Cambiar Catalyst to develop a top-tier district leadership fellowship for 20 current and future district leaders in the Bay Area. The fellowship will strengthen existing leadership while also attracting new talent — cultivating a community of like-minded leaders dedicated to transformative change in public schools.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Dr. Moore and the rest of the SSFUSD team at this pivotal moment in the district’s history to help them realize their new vision and five-year strategic plan. The Bay Ed Fund’s support — at every step of the process — has been critical […]. Their knowledge, thought-partnership, genuine care, and encouragement were pivotal to my decision.”
